Gadsden Man Hospitalized After Trading Shots with Law Enforcement Officials

A Gadsden man is currently recuperating in a Birmingham-area hospital after trading shots with Gadsden Police and Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Deputies last Friday.

The incident reportedly occurred on Owens Drive off of Fairview Road in Gadsden when 35 year old Jeremy Abbas Ronagh allegedly fired at officers from a wooded area, after they had attempted to question him about a burglary.

Ronagh was wounded and transported for treatment meanwhile another man was arrested on existing warrants.

According to authorities, Ronagh had three active warrants including burglary, robbery and a probation revocation.

He was recently revoked from State Probation and transferred to Community Corrections.

The incident remains under investigation.
