Five People Injured In Single Vehicle Crash On County Road 36 / UPDATED

A total of five people were injured in a single vehicle crash on County Road 36 in Sand Rock just before 3:00 Monday afternoon when the vehicle, a 2008 Dodge, left the road and struck a tree.

One person was air-lifted from the scene to an area trauma center.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report the driver was listed as 38 year old Sara Reynolds from Attalla; the four passengers were 18 year old Trent Duncan, 15 year old Matthew Hardin, and Desiree Joplin and Haley Washburn, both age 16.

No additional information regarding the extent of their injuries was noted on the report.

Those responding to the scene included the Sand Rock and Leesburg Fire Departments, the  Leesburg Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Officers, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee EMS and the Rescue Squad.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation by state troopers.
