The City of Centre is continuing to work to make sure that the City’s Pool is first and foremost safe and secondly is opened before the summer swimming season begins in just a few weeks.

During Tuesday’s meeting Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie outlined exactly what the city is planning on doing in order to finish the project as quickly as possible –

Following some lengthy discussion, the council unanimously approved a motion authorizing the city to contract with a Birmingham based company at a cost of no more than $30,000 including professional installation and a proper chlorination system and pumps this will also bring the pool up to proper health code regulations.

Mayor Wilkie did remind council members that unfortunately, these repairs were not in the budget and that there would have to be a meeting of the finance committee to discuss where exactly the funds would be derived from.

In other business, the council approved the minutes from the previous meeting and also approved the bills for payment.
