A Gaylesville woman was hospitalized over the weekend following a report of an altercation.

According to information contained in a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver deputies responded to the scene on Sunday morning (June 29th) where they found the victim and called for an ambulance.

The suspect had fled the scene, but returned a short time later and was taken into custody.

59 year old Curtis Ray Baker was arrested on the charges of Assault and Domestic Violence 2nd Degree.

He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he remains awaiting setting of bond.
