A driver’s license checkpoint on County Road 69 in Cherokee County resulted in a pair of drug arrests on Tuesday (May 13th).
According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, at around 5:00 that afternoon Deputies Perea and Stepps saw a passenger toss something out of a side window while stopped at the checkpoint.
They quickly located a small box containing methamphetamine – and different types of narcotic pills; marijuana was also found in the man’s possession.
Centre resident Ronnie Lynn Wood, age 53, was arrested – and was charged with three counts of the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree along with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Later that evening 48 year old Lisa Ludlow Bishop also of Centre was arrested and charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – after more than a gram of methamphetamine and several illegal pills were found in her possession.
Both Wood and Bishop were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
