Six teams earned state titles at the AHSAA basketball championships on Friday
In class 1A Brantley topped Loachapoka 43-31 in the girls contest while St. Jude scored a 65-37 win over Parrish in the boys game.
In class 2A, the Woodland Lady Bobcats repeated with a victory over Red Bay while Elba edged Luverne 66-61 in the boys championship.
Shades Valley is the 6A girls champion with their win over Sparkman while Mountain Brook gets back-to-back titles with a 60-57 nailbiter against Blount.
Today the class 3A, 4A and 5A champions will be crowned.

In college basketball the Jacksonville State men’s basketball team will host Belmont on Saturday. JSU fans will bid farewell to its four senior members as the Gamecocks tip off at 4:30.
Meanwhile the Gadsden State women’s team will place their 25 and 5 record on the line when they open Alabama Community College Conference play at Wallace State in Hanceville on Sunday.
Piedmont’s Sarah Garner and Hokes Bluff Savannah Ward should get plenty of court time as the Lady Cardinals take on Wallace-Selma. Tip off is set for 3 p.m.
Gadsden State men begin their conference tournament on Wednesday. Collinsville’s Deshawn Moore and Piedmont’s Sloan Garner are both averaging 7.9 points each game for the Cardinals
