Noah Tucker, a Gadsden State Community College student from Wellington, has been awarded the National Gene Haas Foundation Machining Technology Scholarship.  The Gene Haas Foundation provides scholarships to students in technical training programs, with preference given to machinist-based certificate and degree programs in partnership with the Science, Math, and Engineering Education Foundation.

Tucker, who attends classes at the Ayers Campus in Anniston, was awarded a $3,000 scholarship to continue his education in the Machine Tool Technology Program. Steve Caldwell, machine tool technology instructor, said, “Noah is a dedicated student who works diligently to achieve his goals.”  Tucker plans to pursue an engineering degree after completing his coursework in the machine tool technology program.  He enjoys working as a gunsmith when he is not in class.  Gadsden State offers classes for the Machine Tool Technology Program at both the Ayers Campus and East Broad Campus in Gadsden.

The Haas Foundation Foundation was formed in 1999 to fund the needs of the local community and deserving charities as well as provide scholarships to Community Colleges and Vocational Schools for students entering technical training programs.  The Machining Technology Scholarship is available to United States residents completing the scholarship requirements, including reference letters, transcripts, and an essay.   Since 2001, the Gene Haas Foundation has generously supported more than 800 local, regional and national non-profit organizations.
