A Boaz man has been arrested and charged in connection to theft of property in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

38-year old Charles Marty Jacobs was arrested yesterday Thursday and charged with one count of first degree burglary, two counts of third degree assault and one count of resisting arrest.

Sgt. Jason Argo says bond was set at $25,000 cash for burglary and $2,500 property for the other charges.

Jacobs allegedly forced his way into a residence, in the Smith Institute community, and demanded the 19 year-old homeowner leave.

When the homeowner refused to leave Jacobs assaulted the victim.

Jacobs also punched a 13 year-old, who was also inside the home, when they tried to leave the residence in an attempt to call 9-1-1 from a neighbor’s home.

Deputies found Jacobs inside the residence, intoxicated and unconscious, on the victim’s living room couch.

While trying to remove Jacobs from the home, he became combative with deputies forcing them to use a taser to gain control.

Jacobs is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center.
