A Calhoun County jury has found a Weaver man guilty of shooting a 13 year old boy in the back and in the forearm, last March (2013).
Maurice Landrum, age 24 – was found guilty last week of Assault 1st Degree, in connection with the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim and three family members were leaving a barbecue at their apartment complex when they were fired on by Landrum and another individual; the incident had apparently stemmed from an argument that Landrum had with the victim’s cousin earlier that day
The second shooter remains at large.
Landrum reportedly has a previous felony conviction on a charge of Burglary 3rd Degree; under the circumstances – given that the assault involved a firearm – he faces a minimum of 20 years in prison.
According to the Anniston Star Circuit Judge Brian Howell has set a sentencing date of February 19th in that case.
