A 40 year old resident of Odenville, has been arrested on charges of first degree rape, first degree sodomy and incest – all felonies.

His arrest was announced in a news release from Etowah County

James Claude Graggs III is accused of raping and sodomizing a female family member when she was nine years of age; she is now 18.

The abuse allegedly took place at various locations within Etowah and St. Clair counties. Graggs was arrested in St. Clair County on the charge of first degree sexual abuse – and he then failed to comply with the community notification act.

He is currently being held in the St. Clair County Detention Center without bond.
