Cherokee County Rescue Squad Reels In Two Big Ones From Weiss Lake on Wednesday

Fishing 1The Cherokee County Rescue Squad pulled in two big ones – from the waters of Weiss Lake late Wednesday.

At about 5:45pm, emergency personnel responded to a location just south of the Leesburg Bridge and Highway 411, where a boat had overturned, with the lone occupant ending up tangled up in a trot line.

The man was disengaged and reeled in by the Rescue Squad.

Approximately an hour later at 6:45pm, a boater called 9-1-1 to report that his engine had quit on him and to make things worse, the boat was taking on water.

The Rescue Squad quickly arrived at the location on the lower lake near the power house to offer assistance.

Fortunately no one was hurt in either incident – and both men will likely be on the water again in the very near future, because after all – a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work
