Saturday was a big day for local sports fans. Not only did Alabama and Auburn kick off their 2013 football seasons with wins, but Hibbett Sports was officially welcomed to town.
The sporting goods store, located in the Cherokee Plaza Shopping Center next to Goody’s offers a wide range of merchandise for both fans and athletes.
That includes basketball, football, softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball and more.
Store Manager Emily Spears, who says they have been open a little over a month and business has been good.
Mayor Tony Wilkie was on hand to cut the ribbon for the official opening.
State Senator Phil Williams was also there for the ceremony.
Hibbett Sports is open Monday through Saturday from 10am until 8 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 6.
