The body of a missing Birmingham woman was found in a trash bin Sunday evening.
Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge stated that a store employee discovered the body, while taking out the trash at the Rite Aid on U.S. 78 West.
Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown told the Anniston Star that he received a call about the body soon afterwards but he yielded the case to Jefferson County officials when it was determined that the crime had been committed there.
The body was identified as that of 20 year old Aletha Mitchell who had been reported missing on Wednesday of last week (July 31st).
According to a news release from Sergeant Johnny Williams – Public Information Officer for the Birmingham Police Department – Justin Clarence McConico of Birmingham has been charged with Capital Murder in connection with the case.
The 23 year old man was reportedly picked up at a Georgia rest stop by Deputies of the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office; he is currently being held there without bond while awaiting extradition.
The cause of death has yet to be released and the case remains under investigation.
