A traffic stop in Sand Rock Monday afternoon netted the arrest of three people on drug charges.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Agents with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit made the stop and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, which warranted a search.
Agents found a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
A records check of the vehicle’s occupants revealed 31-year old Donald Ray Mitchell of Centre had an outstanding warrant for non-support, and 41-year old Rose Marie Koop was wanted on outstanding charges for distribution of a controlled substance.
Koop and another passenger, 43-year old Theresa Marie Meyer of Sand Rock, were additionally charged with 1st degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
