Five Arrested On Drug Charges

Five people have been arrested in Dekalb County on Drug-related charges.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states that on July 17th, Drug Task Force agents went to the residence of 59-year old William Andrew Baker on County Road 351 in the Whitton community to serve a felony warrant.

As they started in the driveway Baker saw them and ran into the house.

Agents chased Baker into the house, when they made it into the residence they found 21-year old Anthony Wayne Andrews of Fyffe and 31-year old John Russell Grandstaff of Danville.

Agents detained Andrews for a felony warrant; once he was detained they noticed Drug Paraphernalia lying around the house in plain view.

After an intensive search they found a trap door leading under the house.

When Drug Task Force Agents and Deputies opened the door they found Baker, 34-year old James Grant Hathcock of Guntersville and 19-year old Rachel Dawn Anderson of Albertville, hiding under the house with a meth lab and the ingredients to make another meth lab.

Baker was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Manufacturing of Controlled Substance 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Probation Violation, and Failure to Appear.

Anderson and Hathcock both were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Manufacturing of Controlled Substance 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Comply.

Grandstaff and Andrews were both arrested and charged with three Hindering Prosecution 1st, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Manufacturing of Controlled Substance 2nd, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
