A Gadsden man has been charged in connection to the death of a 34 year old man in the Tidmore Bend community.
According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin, 37 year old Shawn Derrick Williams, has been charged with one count of capital murder; he was considered a “person of interest” in the case since Friday.
He has been held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a second degree assault charge after assaulting a detention deputy while being held for questioning by investigators.
Shawn’s brother, Jamey Brent Williams was found dead inside his vehicle in the front yard of his residence at 608 Pope Road, Gadsden. Forensic lab results from evidence gathered by Sheriff’s Office Investigators led to the arrest of Shawn Williams.
A 9-1-1 call was made on June 28th at approximately 9:30am from the victim’s employer stating that he appeared to have been shot and did not have a pulse.
The employer went to the residence when Jamey Williams failed to show up for work.
Witnesses said they heard gunshots at around 6:30 that morning.
Deputies arrived on the scene to discover that the victim had been shot once in the head and once in the chest.
Shawn Williams is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center without bond.
