Two Cherokee County residents were hurt in a single vehicle accident occurring on County Road 131 Wednesday night.

According to Alabama State Trooper accident reports the wreck took place just after 9:30pm and involved a 2003 GMC being driven by Jose Cornejo of Rome, Georgia.

The driver escaped injury, however two passengers in the vehicle – 45 year old Luis Silva and 26 year old Francisco Mendonca, both of Cedar Bluff – were listed as receiving injuries.

No additional information regarding the extent of those injuries was available.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
