It’s a life sentence for the Floyd County couple convicted of murdering a two-year-old child.
Floyd Superior Court Judge Tami Colston sentenced 28-year-old Eric Castro to spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility of parole.
Although the District Attorney’s Office asked the court for the same punishment for 22-year-old Heather Brittney Parker, the child’s mother, Parker received a life sentence with the chance of parole, which means that she could be released in the future.
However, the DA’s Office says it will be 33-years before such an application for parole can even be considered
Investigators believe that two-and-a-half-year-old Kailee Parker suffered prolonged abuse at the hands of Castro and her mother, which culminated in her June 25th death.
An autopsy of the little girl revealed she had died of multiple, violent blows to the head.
