A teenager was airlifted to a Birmingham hospital Sunday morning after going into the frigid waters of Weiss Lake.
Emergency crews were dispatched to a location behind a residence on Armstrong Road in Cedar Bluff just after 8am.
According to initial information, the teen’s canoe overturned sending him into the water, which was believed to be around 43 or 44 degrees at the time.
The 17-year old was in the water for an undetermined amount of time before being pulled out.
He was taken by ambulance to the Cedar Bluff High School Football field and then transported by helicopter from there to Birmingham.
His condition is not known at this time.
We hope to have more information as it becomes available.
