A former Gaston School teacher has been arrested for being sexually involved with high school students.
Etowah County Investigator VaShaunda Ragland says 31 year old Kayla Lynn Hodges of Anniston, was arrested Monday and is charged with four counts of a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19, which is a misdemeanor.
Hodges allegedly sent sexual photos and text messages to four high school students while employed with the Etowah County Board of Education (ECBOE) as a teacher.
Etowah County Superintendent Alan Cosby said, “Mrs. Hodges resignation was accepted by the Etowah County Board of Education on January 7, 2016. After her resignation was accepted these allegations came to light. We then contacted local law enforcement to report the information we had at the time and are fully cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office in this case.”
Sheriff Todd Entrekin said that this type of ridiculous behavior is completely uncalled for by someone who was trusted by the community to teach our kids.
Hodges was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on $5,000 property bond. As a condition of her bond Hodges is to report to Community Corrections, have no unsupervised contact with a minor and should not participate in any online social media applications.
