Following a lengthy Executive Session of the Leesburg Town Council earlier this week, WEIS Radio News received a statement from Leesburg Mayor Brandy Pierce concerning the matter.
In an email, Mayor Pierce said that an officer of the Leesburg Police Department has been immediately removed from duty and will be rehired at enrollment in the police academy or at the application process, whichever is needed to preserve their remaining
days.
Due to the sensitive nature of the matter, the name of that officer was not made available.
