At least one person was taken to the hospital following an accident that shut down Highway 9 in both directions in Cedar Bluff on Saturday night.

According to reports a vehicle apparently ran off of the roadway through a guard rail and over the bridge and down an embankment before finally coming to rest, fortunately the vehicle did not go into the water.

A number of emergency crews responded to the scene and traffic was shut completley down for an extended period of time as crews worked to remove the car.
