Man Arrested Following Report of “Shots Fired”

Shots Fired 1

A man was taken into custody, after reportedly leading Rome Police Officers on a foot chase in North Rome Wednesday night.

A call reporting shots being fired inside a home on Nelm Street came in around 6:00pm and officers were provided with the description of the suspect – a black male wearing an orange t-shirt driving a black car.

While en route to the scene officers spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop – with the man pulling into the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store on North Broad Street, before he bailing out and ran.

Officers quickly caught up with the subject and took him into custody.

He was taken to Floyd Medical Center to be checked out, because he was complaining of hip pain; it appears no one was hit by the shots fired at the home.

That incident remains under investigation.
