Rome Man Accused of Enlisting Child to Help in Burglary

12 Year Old

A Rome man accused of breaking into a residence and stealing checks, then reusing them, is facing additional charges for allegedly having a 12 year old girl help him in a burglary.

According to Floyd County Jail reports, 30 year old Robert Nathan Holcomb of an East Drive address had the girl aid him in a burglary, and that girl had also witnessed drug activity and other activities not suitable for a child.

Holcomb was first arrested on charges of burglary, theft by taking, theft by deception, two counts of forgery and two counts of deposit account fraud.

He’s now facing additional charges of second degree cruelty to children and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Floyd County police stated that he stole the checks from his relatives earlier this month and used chemicals to alter them so they could be cashed again.

Check washing occurs when print is removed from a check face, allowing a person to alter portions of the document.

He reportedly cashed three checks valued at more than $1,500 at Walmart.

Walmart officials first notified police of the altered checks.
