Man Leads Officers on High Speed Chase in Rome on Friday

Hobbs 2A high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle ended in Rome on Friday afternoon, after law enforcement managed to force the driver to stop near Wax Road in Silver Creek.

According to reports, the driver, 29 year old Benjamin Charles Hobbs of Cedartown, led law enforcement officials on an hour long chase during which he ran numerous stop signs while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Hobbs was arrested and charged with reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, also driving on the wrong side of the road, three counts of stop sign violations, theft by receiving stolen property and fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer.
