Elaine Wilkins will go on trial this week in neighboring Chattooga County, Georgia – for the slaying of Robert “Bob” Packer last June (2014).
Investigators believe that Wilkins fired the fatal shots into Packer’s back using his own Colt .45 handgun; afterwards, she called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers that Packer was dead.
The weapon was found several days later in a nearby pond.
Wilkins, who was apparently the girlfriend of the victim, gave no reason for the shooting.
