WASHINGTON– A handwritten thank-you, a homemade card, or a child’s drawing can help encourage deployed service members and veterans.
America’s Adopt A Soldier announced its 2026 National Care Letter Campaign on Monday, Nov. 2, ahead of Veterans Day. The nonprofit hopes to collect more than 300,000 cards and letters by Dec. 31. Recipients include deployed military personnel and veterans in veterans homes and hospitals.
Founder Mary Keeser said the organization has shared more than 200,000 care letters annually. This year, however, organizers hope to expand that reach. Keeser said the higher goal would allow at least four letters for each veteran in a veterans home or hospital. The campaign would also reach deployed service members.
“The letters of care are truly the caring pulse of America towards our Service men and women,” Keeser said.
The campaign welcomes people of all ages, from young children to adults more than 100 years old. Keeser also described people writing from kitchen tables, classrooms, workplaces, college campuses, and faith communities.
For example, contributors can write a note of thanks, create a handmade card, or draw a picture honoring a recipient’s service and sacrifices. Families, schools, businesses, civic organizations, and faith groups can also participate together.
The campaign continues through Dec. 31, 2026. For those ready to take part, the announcement lists this mailing address:
