RAINBOW CITY– Rainbow City is one of five Alabama communities selected for the Good Grit Pilot Program. The initiative aims to highlight local assets and strengthen community engagement.

According to the city, representatives traveled to Montgomery Tuesday, Oct. 6, for an orientation with the Alabama League of Municipalities and Good Grit Agency.

The program is part of the League’s Live Locally Alabama campaign. City officials said it will help Rainbow City share its story and spotlight the qualities that make it a place to call home.

Five Communities Taking Part

Good Grit identifies the other pilot communities as Loxley, Priceville, Thomasville, and Tuskegee.

The agency also described its first workshop as a chance to hear from mayors, city leaders, business owners, chamber members, and community advocates. Participants discussed what makes their communities distinctive and how to communicate those stories.

In addition, Good Grit offers services including brand identity workshops, communication strategy, photography, video, and website design. Its website describes work with tourism destinations, events, and businesses.

What Live Locally Alabama Does

The League launched Live Locally Alabama in September 2024 to encourage civic involvement and community pride. It also seeks to explain the role municipal governments play in residents’ daily lives.

For example, the campaign highlights services such as public safety, street maintenance, parks, recreation, libraries, and senior centers.

Meanwhile, the League provides marketing materials and consultation resources to help communities explain their services and showcase their identities.

Residents can also participate by shopping locally, volunteering, attending council meetings, and taking part in community events and improvement projects.

For Rainbow City, the pilot also provides an opportunity to draw attention to its community and local assets. The city said it looks forward to telling that story with purpose and pride.
