GADSDEN– The American Red Cross will hold two blood drives at Gadsden Mall this month.

The first drive takes place Oct. 16, followed by another Oct. 30. Both run from 1 to 6 p.m. at 1001 Rainbow Drive, according to the Gadsden Messenger.

The Red Cross encourages donors of all blood types to help maintain the nation’s blood supply this fall. Although seasons change, hospital patients continue to depend on transfusions.

The organization also says a stable supply helps it send blood products where patients need them, including during natural disasters.

Donors can schedule appointments at RedCrossBlood.org or through the Red Cross Blood Donor App. They can also call 1-800-RED CROSS, or 1-800-733-2767, to make an appointment or request more information.

To save time, donors can use RapidPass for their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire. They should complete that step on the day of their donation, before arriving at the drive.

Donors should also bring a blood donor card, driver’s license, or two other forms of identification for check-in.
