ANNISTON– Anniston bulk pickup guidelines now direct residents to 121 Disposal for collection questions and alleyway arrangements, with updated rules effective October 7, 2026.
The City of Anniston says 121 Disposal is the sole provider of bulk item pickup. Residents should contact the company directly at 256-251-3949 or anniston@121disposal.com to discuss collection needs.
The city also asks residents not to contact Public Works or their City Council representative to arrange bulk collection.
Curbside Placement and Alleyway Arrangements
Curbside placement at the front of a property is the preferred collection location. However, residents with an established alleyway pickup arrangement through 121 Disposal will continue receiving service under that arrangement.
If curbside placement is not possible, residents should contact the company to determine an appropriate pickup location. The city also cautions against assuming crews will collect materials from an alleyway without an arrangement with 121 Disposal.
Weekly Pile Limits
Each residence may set out one bulk pile per week. The maximum pile size is 6 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 4 feet high, or approximately 5 cubic yards, according to the city’s guidance.
In addition, residents should stack materials neatly and keep piles clear of mailboxes, utility poles, fences, and vehicles. Those clearances allow collection crews to access the materials safely.
Accepted Items and Collection Restrictions
Accepted items include tree limbs under 6 feet long, old furniture, mattresses, and bed springs. The city also lists small debris, non-disposable solid waste, cloth, paper, cardboard, tin cans, glass, and similar household items.
However, crews will not collect items weighing more than 500 pounds or exceeding 6 feet in length. Piles exceeding the city’s size limits also do not qualify for collection.
Household garbage and animal waste are not accepted as bulk items. In addition, the excluded materials include concrete, dirt, roofing shingles, rocks, sawdust, tires, and large tree stumps.
Hazardous materials are also prohibited. Examples include antifreeze, insecticides, herbicides, batteries, and chemicals.
Bag Leaves and Grass Clippings
Leaves, grass clippings, and other small plant material must go in bags for collection. However, crews will not collect loose piles of leaves or grass clippings.
Residents should also keep those materials separate from other bulk pickup items.
