WEIS Radio Welcomes Vince Ramsey to Newsroom

Vince Ramsey stands in front of WEIS wall lettering in a blue shirt; the WEIS logo appears at lower right.

CENTRE– WEIS Radio is welcoming Vince Ramsey as a news reporter. He will work in the newsroom and cover stories, meetings, and events across the area. Listeners will also hear him on the air soon.

Ramsey is a Northeast Alabama native and a graduate of Etowah High School. After attending several colleges, he completed his degree at Brigham Young University–Idaho. He and his wife have been married for 27 years and have two sons. Ramsey later returned to Northeast Alabama after many years living and working in Georgia.

His work has ranged from television and video production to small-business ownership, agriculture, and teaching soil biology. Ramsey is also a licensed amateur radio operator with a longstanding interest in communications.

That curiosity extends to the region itself. Ramsey enjoys learning about Alabama’s lakes, rivers, history, rural communities, and outdoor traditions. Because of that interest, he created Alabama Backwater to share stories about the people and places that make the state home.

Sports have also been part of his life. For example, he follows Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves, coached Little League baseball for five years, and enjoys crappie fishing on Weiss Lake. He also taught country-western dancing during the early and mid-1990s.

Ramsey looks forward to meeting more people and hearing their stories through his work at WEIS. If you see him covering a meeting or community event, please say hello and help us welcome him to the team. Listen for Vince on WEIS Radio soon.
