BOAZ– The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says officers detained a man after he fled during a Boaz search warrant operation. The sheriff’s office linked the warrant to a child pornography investigation.
A report from 1819 News places the search warrant operation on Friday morning, Oct. 2.
Sheriff’s deputies and investigators served the warrant at a residence on Doris Street. In addition, Homeland Security Investigations agents and Marshall County District Attorney’s Office investigators participated, according to the sheriff’s office.
However, as authorities approached the home, a man ran out the back door and into thick woods and high grass. The sheriff’s office described him as Haitian.
Deputies quickly established a perimeter and kept the man contained within it, the agency said. They later took him into custody and transported him to the sheriff’s office.
The agency also thanked the Boaz Police Department, Albertville Police Department, and Guntersville Police Department for their assistance. In addition, it credited the Marshall County Drug Unit and Marshall County SWAT Team.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
