
ETOWAH COUNTY– A Kershaw Quarters Road fire burned a barn and about 15 acres Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 30. The Ballplay Bend Fire Department reported that flames spread into nearby fields and woods.
Firefighters arrived to find the barn fully engulfed in flames. Meanwhile, the fire was spreading beyond the structure into the surrounding land.
The initial response included the Hokes Bluff Fire Department and Ballplay #1 Fire Department through automatic aid. After arriving, incident command requested additional assistance from the Glencoe Fire Department and Alabama Forestry Commission.
The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and AMed Ambulance also assisted at the scene. In addition, Etowah County EMA delivered drinking water for the response.
Ballplay Bend also thanked Etowah County 9-1-1 dispatchers for their work during the response. The department credited the participating agencies for their teamwork.
