Both Piedmont and Collinsville dropped in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 2A high school football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.

The Bulldogs (5-1) fell one spot to No. 5 following a 35-12 loss to Class 4A, No. 2 Alexandria on Friday. Piedmont travels to Class 2A, No. 10 Pleasant Valley (5-1) this Friday.

Coming off a 43-17 setback to Class 5A Douglas last Friday, Collinsville (4-1) tumbled three spots to No. 9 in this week’s rankings. The Panthers look to rebound at Section (1-4) this Friday.

Other area games this week include Appalachian (2-3) at Gaylesville (3-2) on Thursday, Sand Rock (2-3) at North Sand Mountain (2-4), Class 4A, No. 4 Scottsboro (5-0) at Cherokee County (3-2), and Cedar Bluff (3-2) at Spring Garden (3-3) in this Friday’s Foothills Tractor Mahindra Game of the Week.
