JACKSONVILLE POST – A single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 8:57 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, has claimed the life of an Anniston man. The pedestrian, Jeremiah R. Johnson, 44, who was in the roadway at the time of the crash, was fatally injured when he was struck by the 2026 Jeep Compass, driven by Dakota A. Broughton, 21, of Anniston. Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 Broughton was injured and transported to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston for medical treatment.

 The crash occurred on Alabama 202 near North Hunter Street, approximately one mile west of Anniston city limits, in Calhoun County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
