COLLINSVILLE – Douglas quarterback Baker Lyles threw five touchdown passes, ran for another score and had a 2-point conversion in leading the Class 5A Eagles to a 43-17 football victory at Class 2A, No. 6 Collinsville on Friday.

Sylas Adams led the Panthers (4-1) with 57 yards on six carries and two scores. He also had three catches for 33 yards. Mason McAteer connected on 5-of-10 passes for 64 yards. Noah Johnson caught a pair of passes for 77 yards and also had eight carries for 28 yards. Logan Hanson finished with six carries for 30 yards.

Adams put the Panthers on the board first with a 3-yard touchdown run. Uriel Cornejo’s extra point gave Collinsville a 7-0 lead.

Douglas (4-1) tied the game later on a Lyles 10-yard touchdown pass to Landon Stewart.

Cornejo connected on a 25-yard field goal to close out the first-quarter scoring with Collinsville in front 10-7.

It was all Eagles in the second quarter as they scored 22 points to take a 29-10 halftime advantage. Lyles threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Judson Murray. Lyles added a 2-point conversion run to put Douglas in front 15-10. Lyles then connected with Noah Williamson on a 28-yard touchdown pass to make it a 22-10 game. He closed out the first-half scoring on a 44-yard touchdown toss to Casey Campbell.

Douglas kept pouring it on in the third quarter. Lyles scored on a 1-yard run to give the Eagles a 36-10 edge. Adams scored on a 45-yard run to cut Douglas’s lead to 36-17, but the Eagles closed out the game with a Lyles-to-Stewart 18-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for the final.

Collinsville travels to Section on Friday.
