The Collinsville city council approved $100,000 for the building of the concession stand at the youth baseball fields. Since Warner’s Athletic Construction is already working on the field, the company will be granted the new work. Using Warner’s made sense, said Mayor Jeff Chandler, since bidding other companies would slow down the overall project.

In other business the council approved a DC Gas board resolution. Mayor Chandler explained that the cities of Collinsville, Centre, and Ft. Payne share ownership of DC Gas. The resolution would install mayors of member cities automatically on the gas board. Chandler reminded the council that another Collinsville board spot will need to be filled at an upcoming council meeting.

Fire Chief David Bowen reported that the prior Saturday Collinsville hosted a multi-department training session. He explained that these  not only train, but they help build relationships among firemen.
