At the September 15th town council meeting, Cedar Bluff’s Police Chief Jeremy Stepps reported on his department’s activities for the month of August. While patrolling 7,703 miles, officers gave 205 warnings and wrote 78 tickets. Cedar Bluff PD also recorded 4 felony and 5 misdemeanor arrests, worked 6 drug cases, and served 15 warrants. Twenty-nine investigative officer reports were written, 4 suspects interviewed, and 2 crime tips answered. The department also accumulated 70 hours of traffic overtime.
Also at the council meeting, Building Inspector Mark Perry stated that his office issued 14 camper, 13 building, 1 sign, and 2 moving permits. The department also sent 2 nuisance letters out for the month.
While Fire Chief Steven Kimmons wasn’t able to attend the council meeting, Police Chief Stepps read his monthly report. The department fielded a total of 12 calls, 5 of which were medical in nature. In August Cedar Bluff firemen also assisted law enforcement with traffic and helped when electrical lines were down.
Mayor Bill Warren thanked Chief Stepps and Perry for the jobs they do for the town of Cedar Bluff.
