ROME– The Rome-Floyd Fire Department will hold a special 25th anniversary 9/11 commemorative service Friday, Sept. 11, at Memorial Plaza.

The public ceremony will begin at 8:45 a.m. Department officials say the service will honor the heroes who gave everything and remember the lives lost.

It will also recognize the courage and unity that have defined the nation since the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Weather permitting, the Museum of Flight will conduct a special flyover. In addition, the Exchange Club of Rome will provide a display of American flags.

Organizers will provide seating for attendees. Although the ceremony will take place outdoors, officials say the service will proceed rain or shine.

The department is inviting the community to stand together in remembrance and honor those whose lives and sacrifices shaped the nation.
