Mrs. Carlene Storey, age 81, of Cedar Bluff, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Carlene was the daughter of the late ArtisLenderman and Emily Maggie Maxwell Lenderman. She was a faithful member of Farrell Baptist Church, a church family that held a very special place in her heart. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she especially enjoyed gospel music.
For 63 years, Carlean shared her life with her husband, Lewis LaWayne “Wayne” Storey, Sr. Together they built a life centered around faith, family, and a home where there was always room for one more at the table.
Carlean was truly the heart of her family. Her family was her life, and there was nothing that meant more to her than taking care of the people she loved. One of the ways she did that best was through her cooking. Over the years, Carlean fed not only her own family, but what seemed like half the community. So many friends, neighbors, church members, and family members have sat around her table and shared a meal prepared by her hands. Her home was a place where folks knew they were welcome, and no one ever had to leave hungry.
She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will deeply miss her steady presence, her cooking, her caring ways, and the warmth she brought into their lives.
Carlean is survived by her husband, Lewis LaWayneStorey, Sr.; sons, Lewis LaWayneStorey, Jr. (Annette Strickland), David (Helen) Storey, and Mickey Dale (Julie) Storey; daughter, Nancy (Tim) Allen; brother, Raymond (Jackie) Lenderman; grandchildren, Porsha Duke, Joshua (Melynda) Storey, Jamison Storey, Cordell Storey, Tiffany Rithmire, Nikki (Daniel) Graham, Lee (Haley) Liner, Timothy (Karly) Allen, Dylan (Itzel) Allen, Eli (Dell) Dutton, and Tanner (Megan) Clanton; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Jamison Storey, Cordell Storey, Eli Dutton, Tanner Clanton, Aiden Duke, and Tommy Storey.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carlean’s Farrell Baptist Church family for their prayers, friendship, and kindness; to the caring staff at Atrium Floyd in Rome for the compassion shown to her; and especially to her niece, Lynn Bryant, for the many hours, care, and devotion she so lovingly gave.
Carlean spent a lifetime feeding people, caring for people, and making them feel at home. Her chair may now be empty and her kitchen a little quieter, but the love she poured into her family, her church, and her community will remain for generations to come.
