ROME– The Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism is accepting registrations for the third annual Plein Air Showcase of Georgia’s Rome.
The outdoor painting competition will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, during Fiddlin’ Fest in downtown Rome. Artists of all skill levels, including beginners and high school students, may participate.
Artists will paint outdoors from 8 a.m. until noon, capturing scenes from downtown streets, parks, bridges, historic buildings, and other landmarks. Check-in and canvas stamping will begin at 8 a.m. at the Rome Area History Center at 305 Broad St.
Organizers will accept works created in oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and oil or chalk pastel. Artists must submit completed pieces that day for judging.
Cash Prizes and Wet Paint Sale
The Rome Area Council for the Arts is sponsoring the showcase’s cash prizes.
First place will receive $200, while second place will receive $150. Third place will receive $100, and an honorable mention winner will receive $50.
RACA will also provide two $50 recognitions for beginner artists. An Artist Choice Award winner will receive $25.
Artists may also sell their completed work during a Wet Paint Sale inside the festival area. Participating artists will receive 100% of their artwork sales.
