CENTRE– The Historical Preservation Society of Cherokee County will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Cherokee County Historical Museum in Centre.
Sam Moses of Rome, Georgia, will present a program on the Colquitt-Prior feud. The Civil War-era conflict began in the Cedartown area before the resulting vendetta spilled into East Alabama.
Moses is actively involved in several historical projects in West Rome. His presentation will explore the feud’s origins and the events that brought the conflict across the state line.
The Historical Preservation Society of Cherokee County meets on the last Thursday of every other month.
The Cherokee County Historical Museum is located at 101 East Main Street in downtown Centre.
