Suspect Arrested After Stolen Truck Recovered in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY — A stolen pickup truck reported missing from the Kilpatrick community was recovered Tuesday afternoon, and a suspect has been arrested, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a silver 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 bearing Alabama license plate 28AADW4 was reported stolen from Kilpatrick at approximately 12:40 a.m. on June 9.

On Tuesday morning, deputies received information that the vehicle had been spotted in the Whiton community around 9:30 a.m. The truck was last observed near the intersection of County Road 23 and Edgefield Road near New Canaan Church. Investigators believed the vehicle may have remained in the Whiton or Asbury communities.

The truck was described as having oversized aftermarket wheels, off-road tires, and a large exhaust system.

Later Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office announced that the vehicle had been recovered at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the Aroney community. A suspect was taken into custody in connection with the case.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said additional information regarding the investigation and arrest will be released at a later time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
