GADSDEN-The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is advising motorists of upcoming temporary interstate ramp closures in the Gadsden area as crews conduct maintenance paving operations.
ALDOT officials said the work is necessary to maintain roadway conditions and improve long-term safety and travel efficiency along key interstate connections. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during scheduled closures.
The following closures are planned:
On Thursday, June 11, the Interstate 59 northbound ramp to Interstate 759 eastbound will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this time, I-59 northbound traffic may continue to Exit 183 and use either U.S. 431 southbound or return to I-59 southbound to access I-759.
On Monday, June 15, the I-759 westbound ramp to I-59 southbound at the west end of I-759 will close beginning at 8:30 a.m. The closure is expected to last approximately three to four hours. Motorists may instead exit to I-59 northbound, then use Exit 183 to return to I-59 southbound.
Later that same day, also on Monday, June 15, the I-759 westbound ramp to I-59 northbound will close following the completion of work on the I-59 southbound ramp. This phase is expected to begin around noon and continue for approximately three to four hours, lasting until about 4 p.m. Drivers may take I-59 southbound to Exit 181 (State Route 77) to return to I-59 northbound.
ALDOT noted that all scheduled dates are subject to change depending on weather conditions, and all times are estimates. Closures will remain in place at each location until work is completed.
