Calhoun County-The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its recent food drive benefiting the Anniston Soup Bowl, a local organization that provides meals to individuals experiencing homelessness in the Anniston area.
Throughout the month of May, the initiative collected 89 cans of food, 49 bottles of water, two bottles of Gatorade, 24 packs of ramen noodles, and various additional nonperishable items. Based on typical product weights, organizers estimate the total donation ranged between 145 and 160 pounds of food and supplies.
Lt. Chris Nastally said the Sheriff’s Office views the effort as an important starting point for expanding community outreach efforts in the future.
“Although this collection was modest, I hope to grow it in the future and do it again next year,” Nastally said. “This year’s effort was promoted on Facebook and internally, but next time we hope to expand it further and involve schools and other community partners.”
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the drive and said it remains committed to supporting local organizations that serve residents in need across Calhoun County.
