Cherokee County Board of Education to Meet June 9 in Centre

CENTRE — The Cherokee County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 9, at the Cherokee County Schools Central Office, located at 200 Armory Road in Centre.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and will include several items related to school finances, personnel, facilities, and student support services.

Following the call to order, opening prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, welcome, and public comments, board members will conduct roll call and establish a quorum before considering approval of the meeting agenda.

Among the items scheduled for action is approval of the minutes from the May 21 special called board meeting. Board members will also receive the April 2026 financial report and consider approval of Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Amendment No. 2.

The board is also expected to review proposed salary schedules for the 2026-2027 school year.

A special presentation recognizing Purple Star Schools is included on the agenda. The Purple Star designation recognizes schools that demonstrate a commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.

Additional business includes consideration of a School Resource Officer agreement, acceptance of bids and bid extensions, approval of energy savings budgets, declaration of surplus property, personnel actions, and professional development requests.

Board members will also review current job postings within the school system before addressing any other business that may come before the board.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Cherokee County Schools Central Office in Centre. Following completion of the agenda, the board will adjourn.
