
CEDAR BLUFF — Two Cedar Bluff High School fourth-grade students have been recognized for their outstanding character, leadership, and positive influence on their school community.
Cherokee County District Attorney Summer Summerford recently visited Cedar Bluff High School to present the Power of 1 Award to Ross Holcomb and Keegan Dawson during a special recognition ceremony.

The Power of 1 Award honors students who consistently demonstrate kindness, helpfulness, responsibility, and positive leadership in their daily interactions with classmates, teachers, and staff. School officials said Holcomb and Dawson distinguished themselves throughout the school year by serving as positive role models and making meaningful contributions to their school environment.
During her visit, Summerford spoke with students about the importance of personal responsibility and decision-making. She encouraged them to remember that they have the power to make their own choices and emphasized that every decision can have an impact not only on their own future but also on those around them.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Holcomb and Dawson exemplified the principles behind the Power of 1 Award through their consistent display of kindness, respect, and positivity. Their actions and leadership have helped create a supportive atmosphere within their classrooms and throughout the Cedar Bluff school community.
Summerford praised the students for their accomplishments and the example they have set for their peers, noting that strong character and positive choices can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
The District Attorney’s Office congratulated both students on receiving the award and commended them for their commitment to demonstrating the values of leadership, integrity, and service throughout the school year.
Officials said the recognition serves as a reminder that young people have the ability to make a positive impact every day through the choices they make and the way they treat others.
