The National Weather Service is advising residents to remain weather aware Friday as portions of the region face a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms.
Forecasters have placed the area under a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather from approximately 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, the primary threats associated with any stronger storms include isolated damaging wind gusts and the potential for an isolated, brief tornado.
While the overall threat level remains low, weather officials emphasize that severe storms can still develop quickly and encourage residents to remain alert throughout the day.
The National Weather Service recommends that residents have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including weather radios, smartphone alerts, and local media sources. Officials also encourage families to review severe weather safety plans in advance and identify a sturdy shelter location should warnings be issued.
Residents are urged to stay informed on changing weather conditions and remain weather aware throughout the day Friday as storms develop.
