Cherokee Memorial Gardens Seeking Volunteers to Honor Veterans on Memorial Day

CENTRE — Community members are being invited to help honor veterans this Memorial Day by volunteering to place American flags on veterans’ graves at Cherokee Memory Gardens.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is organizing the annual effort and is asking residents to join in the community tribute on Monday, May 25, beginning at 9 a.m. The event will take place rain or shine at Cherokee Memory Gardens in Centre.

Volunteers will assist with placing flags on the graves of veterans buried at the cemetery as a gesture of remembrance and gratitude for their service and sacrifice to the nation.

Organizers say no prior experience is needed, and those wishing to participate are encouraged to arrive at 9 a.m., where instructions and flags will be provided upon arrival.

The event aims to bring the community together in observance of Memorial Day, a time dedicated to honoring the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
