
MARSHALL COUNTY — A construction worker injured in a roadway incident Monday evening in Marshall County has died from his injuries, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The incident occurred Monday, May 18th, along Feemster Gap Road near Warrenton Road, about five miles south of Guntersville.
Authorities identified the victim as 22-year-old Albert Perezibarra of Albany, Georgia.
According to ALEA, Perezibarra was working from an elevated boom bucket attached to a parked 2017 Ford F-550 bucket truck when the incident occurred. Investigators said Perezibarra was holding a cable wire when the wire was struck in the roadway by a 2024 Ram 3500 pickup truck driven by 44-year-old Kevin E. Whaley of Flintville, Tennessee.
The impact caused Perezibarra to be pulled from the elevated work bucket, leaving him critically injured.
Emergency responders airlifted Perezibarra to Marshall Medical North Hospital for treatment. ALEA officials said he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. No additional information has been released at this time.
